We arrived in London on Friday 26th May at about 9.00 in the morning. We met Fr Philip and went to Windsor where we were lucky enough to see the trooping of the Colour. Then, very tired we travelled to Bury St Edmunds, our home for the next 5 weeks.
On Saturday, we watched a wedding. The clothes were lovely. The bridegroom was very happy and the bride cried! We met some of Fr Philip's friends and had an Italian meal.
On the Diocesan website there are pictures of a Cambodian wedding. more »
On Sunday morning, we stood outside mass and met all the people from the church. They are friendly. Some of the children made their First Holy Communion. We thought they were very young and the girls were very pretty in their white dresses. Afterwards, we went to the Club for coffee. We then went to a baptism - it was a lovely celebration!
On Tuesday, we went to Walsingham for the Children's Pilgrimage. VERY COLD and WET! We met Bishop Michael and lots of children. We carried the statue of Our Lady. Bishop Michael made a special welcome for us at a lovely mass, we felt very welcome. See Diocesan website news article.
We had good picnic in the cold weather with Fr Philip and Sam's family. We went to the beach but there was no water, no sun - only cold wind. Fr Philip took us back to Walsingham to look around the village and went back to the Slipper Chapel where we left petitions and lit candles for all our friends in Cambodia and for Fr Heri's family in Java. We went out for supper with a lovely family.
On Wednesday afternoon we went to the market shopping on our own. We bought something to take back home.
On Thursday, we went to Norwich and met Fr John Shannon, who had been in Siem Reap. He took us around the University of East Anglia and went to mass at the Chaplaincy and then had lunch there. In the afternoon we went to Fr John's house because it was raining.
On Friday morning we met Fr Martin and went to St John's Cathedral in Norwich and went to the Flower Festival. We saw around the Cathedral and lunch there. After lunch we go back to BSE and went out to supper and they made us cook for ourselves...and for them! Rice soup!
End of week One!
