Charismatic Prayer Group
Since September our prayer group has been meeting in the presbytery on Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8.00pm. This seems to be a suitable time for most of the members. In our meetings we are open to the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit as He speaks to us through prayer, praise, adoration, teaching, intercession and ministry.
At the beginning of the year we worked through five of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius. These exercises would have been completed during the first week of the 30 day directed retreat at St Beuno's Jesuit Retreat Centre in North Wales. There was time for listening, prayer, reflection and sharing. Sharing was received in silence without comments or remarks because prayer, not discussion, is emphasised in our group. We had a second chance to see the CaFE programme (Catholic Faith Exploration) Walking in the Spirit, which had been shown in the parish during Lent. This enabled those who had missed the first showing of the programme to see it. During the autumn we studied how God's Word shows us that Jesus fulfilled the promises of the five Old Testament Covenants.
The Catholic Charismatic Renewal meetings for the Diocese held at Bowthorpe, Norwich were attended by members of the group. Fr Simon Penhalagan, President of the Zion Community, the Catholic Centre for Evangelization, talked about Walking in the Spirit - Evangelization. A day of renewal was held at St Luke's Church, Peterborough. Fr Luke, who is the Chaplain to the Renewal Groups in the Diocese, gave the talks. Fr Sebastian Kajko CFR, who belongs to the Order of Franciscans of the Renewal, led another Day of Renewal. He spoke about the Spirituality of St Francis of Assisi. All these talks are available on CDs.
Prayer ministry is available for those who request it and your prayer requests can be given to any member of the prayer group.
