Flower Arranging Group

It has been another very busy year for the group with Easter and Christmas requiring all hands on deck. The ladies have been greatly encouraged by the lovely comments from members of the parish and visitors.

We are in need of more helpers. Basic lessons can be arranged for anyone willing to help. Watering during the week is a big part of extending the life of the flower arrangements -15 minutes twice a week is all that is needed. This plea is included in this annual report as the team is in need of assistance.

With the redecoration of the church a new colour scheme with a wider range of flowers and styles will be needed to enhancing the beauty of our very special church.

In 2011 we had a larger number of weddings than in some recent years, with the majority of brides asking for the church team to carry out the work, which helped to save expenditure by the church. Flowers, like everything else, are getting more expensive.

Our Lady's Altar is funded all year by donations. Sadly, with the pressure of the cost of living, money is very tight. We thank all of you for your support and we were sorry we had to raise the basic cost of the individual special arrangements. Christenings, weddings, a 'thank you' to Our Lady for help received, prayers answered, or deceased loved ones remembered, are all ways to support this special altar.

A new idea has been put forward: for a donation of £5.00 a name can be added to a new scroll that would be in place for two weeks. If you wish to do this, put the money and your message/name etc. in an envelope through the Presbytery door, marked Our Lady's Altar.
